Brussels - Online Media Intern

Role:
Crisis Group is seeking a volunteer to assist its Digital team for a period of six months starting at the beginning of January 2016. The volunteer will provide daily support to staff of the Digital team in the Brussels Headquarters, part of the larger Communications and Outreach department.
Responsibilities:
  • Update web content and post routine changes on Crisis Group's website, blog and other online accounts;
  • Monitor Crisis Group’s presence online, using social media monitoring and web analytics tools;
  • Edit, curate and build content for Crisis Group's internal intranet;
  • Assist in developing engaging graphics for website and social media;
  • Stay updated on developments in online media;
  • Provide general administrative support.
The internship would suit candidates with interests and experience in some combination
(and preferably many) of the following: social media, web design, digital communications, international relations, conflict studies, journalism.
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in journalism, communications, and/or international relations, politics, conflict studies, with a keen interest in both fields;
  • Good understanding of HTML/CSS;
  • Knowledge of Content Management Systems, i.e. Wordpress, Drupal;
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (primarily Photoshop, Premiere and Illustrator);
  • Passion for digital communication;
  • Team player in a busy office with willingness to speak up with fresh ideas and ability to retain focus in group settings;
  • Knowledge of Crisis Group's core values;
  • Fluency in verbal and written English;
  • Eligibility to live and work in Belgium.
