Interpeace, a Swiss non-profit organisation, works in close partnership with national partner organizations and the UN, with the aim of building lasting peace. Interpeace supports the active involvement of local, national, and international actors in ongoing collective dialogue and participatory policy research that allows societies facing a risk of violent conflict to overcome its internal divisions. The Development and Learning unit is responsible for programme development and support, thematic cross-country programmes, and improving peacebuilding know-how both within Interpeace and for external actors.
Scope of the position:
Working as a member of the Development and Learning Unit and under the supervision of the Programme Officer for Development and Learning, the Development and Learning Intern (Focus Area: Programme Development and IPAT) will contribute to the overall functioning of the unit and various projects/initiatives the Programme Development and IPAT teams carry out through the provision of effective support in research as well as administration and logistical support functions.
Working as a member of the Development and Learning Unit and under the supervision of the Programme Officer for Development and Learning, the Development and Learning Intern (Focus Area: Programme Development and IPAT) will contribute to the overall functioning of the unit and various projects/initiatives the Programme Development and IPAT teams carry out through the provision of effective support in research as well as administration and logistical support functions.
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Drafting and/or editing of substantive reports as requested, including inputs for annual report, project updates, policy briefs, etc.
- Carrying out research and compiling background material related to the projects and topics relevant to the Development and Learning unit’s work.
- Support fundraising efforts by doing research on potential sources of funding, on donor priorities and supporting the development of project proposals and concept notes.
- Conducting daily reviews on the political developments of assigned countries and compiling a weekly media monitoring report.
- Supporting the organization of workshops, courses and meetings.
- Preparing and writing workshop and meeting notes.
- Providing logistical support for travel and missions of the Development and Learning team to the field.
- Supporting day-to-day administrative activities of the Development and Learning Unit.
- Undertaking any other activities as requested by the supervisor.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (a Master’s degree an advantage)
- Fluency of English required, good working knowledge of French or/and Arabic an asset
- Interest in peacebuilding and previous experience in working in international settings
- Ability to work under pressure and multi-task
- Excellent proven organization and communications skills
- Knowledge of computer applications
