The role
The Psychosocial Support Specialist (PSS)) will be responsible for strengthening the quality of psychosocial support programme of Bangui base, which form a key part of our emergency response efforts, and development programming in health and protection across Bangui response. SCI Child Protection and health programmes have put in place intersectoral projects that allow for identification and referral of child and their referral when case management and psychological treatment is needed. The treatment capacity in country is currently largely limited to case management however, and this role's purpose is to add capacity for treatment of children in need.
Furthermore, the PSS Specialist will advise on psychosocial case management of children presenting symptom of distress, train staff to better provide psychosocial support, referral pathway toward appropriate services ( psychosocial and health services), provide on-going technical support to ensure relevant support through Save the Children's integrated programme.
Qualifications and experience
- Proven experience with Psycho-Social Support
- Significant experience in working in child protection in emergencies. Experience working directly with children as well as with systems for referral and case management will be strongly considered.
- Proven fluency in French essential
- Experience in capacity building and in strengthening various duty bearers understanding of and response to Child Protection and Psychosocial Support.
- Ability to communicate and maintain appropriate and productive relations with a range of actors, including children, parents, local and national authorities
- Good knowledge of and experience in using established inter-agency standards and guidelines in MHPSS and child protection
- At least 2 years' experience working in psychology in a humanitarian setting
Desired Criteria
- French proficiency
- Education experience highly desirable
- Experience of Sexual Gender based Violence and Disarmament Demobilization Reintegration programming in Internal Displacement Population (IDP) context
