DCA is looking for an experienced Child Protection Project Coordinator to implement DCA Libya’s Child Protection activities and outputs for a specific 6 months project. The activities must be implemented in accordance with national requirements, DCA’s strategic plans and the project proposal.
Specifically, the Project Coordinator will deliver training of trainers to Libyan schoolteachers and social workers in South Libya in child protection, psychosocial support and peacebuilding approaches, guide and oversee the implementation of these approaches into the schools and manage the Child Protection project, ensuring that activities and outputs are achieved as per project documents and timetables. The Project Coordinator will coordinate with in-country DCA partners operating in areas not accessible for DCA staff and liaise with the relevant ministries and authorities dealing with child protection.
The Project Coordinator will refer to the in-country Projects Coordination Manager and be responsible for coordination of the implementation of the Child Protection project, including managing one national staff member and one partner organization under the project.
DCAs programme in Libya/Tunisia
DCA’s programme in Libya commenced in 2011 in the wake of the uprising and was initially aimed at addressing the associated heavy contamination of Explosive Remnants of War (ERW). The programme has widened to address a broad set of needs under a Safer Communities banner, including training and development of Libyan authorities in addressing contamination with ERW, Armed Violence Reduction and Risk Education activities. The majority of these activities are implemented by Libyan community based organizations, supported in their work by our staff in Tunisia and in Libya.
The posting is a non-family duty station and based in Tunis, Tunisia. Travel into Libya is currently restricted, but could be expected at a later stage pending changes in the security situation. Experience with remotely managing and monitoring/evaluating partners and projects is highly valued.
Main tasks and responsibilities include
- Manage the implementation of CP activities in accordance with DCA and donor project plan.
- Support the local DCA partner in undertaking a needs assessment and service provider mapping within the exposed area and address findings in coordination with the DCA partner and other counterparts.
- Design the post project survey for results capturing and support partner and DCA staff in carrying out the survey, as well as beneficiary and stakeholder interviews
- Develop the capacity of DCA national staff and the national partners (both governmental and non-governmental) to conduct CP, PSS and peacebuilding activities.
- Support national partners in delivering trainings of teachers and social workers in CP, PSS and peacebuilding activities.
- Support national partners in delivering CP, PSS and peacebuilding activities.
- Monitor activities of the local partners and conduct periodic internal evaluations to measure impact.
- Facilitate a network of existing providers, teachers and social workers in Sabha to share experiences and knowledge and to monitor the implementation of activities by the participants.
- Gather results, beneficiary stories and information of the project and support the technical writer in writing a report that can be used for dissemination to stakeholders for knowledge on mainstreaming PSS, CP and peacebuilding approaches into schools.
- Maintain records of all child protection, psychosocial support and peacebuilding activities, and provide reports to the national authorities, donor and for DCA reporting.
