Org. Setting and Reporting
These positions are located in the Department for General Assembly and Conference Management (DGACM) at Headquarters and other duty stations, where applicable. These positions are under the general supervision of the Chief of the Copy Preparation and Proofreading Section and directly under the Chief of Unit for the respective languages, as appropriate.
Education
• Hold at least a three-year university first level degree from a university or institution of equivalent status at which English is the principal language of instruction.
• The requirement for a university degree or its equivalent from a university or institution of equivalent status mentioned above may be waived for staff members who, in the judgement of the Board of Examiners, have adequate post-secondary educational qualifications from a university or institution of equivalent status and adequate secondary educational qualifications from an establishment at which the principal language of instruction is English, in addition to five years of continuous service with the United Nations Secretariat by 31 December 1989.
Work Experience
Two years of experience in printing/publishing/editorial/graphic design is highly desirable. Practical and demonstrated knowledge of proofreading/typography is necessary.
Languages
• Have English as their main language (The main language should be understood to be the language in which the candidate is best able to work.).
• Have a perfect command of oral and written English and an excellent knowledge of French and one of the other official languages of the United Nations (Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish).
• Applicants' claim to knowledge of official languages of the United Nations must be supported by relevant documentation attached to their applications.
