The post is to be filled as soon as possible, and is initially scheduled to end on 15 July 2015. The workplace is located in Ungandula, Democratic Republic of Congo. The security situation in the project region is stable, but requires a willingness to adapt on the part of the post holder.
Objectives and responsibilities of the position
As the Mechanics Expert (m/f), you are under supervision of the garage manager responsible for providing a functioning Welthungerhilfe fleet and assisting the local civil engineer.
Your most important duties are as follows:
- Maintenance and repair of the entire fleet (construction machines, trucks, 4WD etc.)
- Supervision of and assistance with procurement activities (fuel, cement, spare parts etc.)
- Ensure orderly material resources planning in coordination with the project manager and project administrators (finance and logistics)
- Maintenance, repair and management of all other technical equipment and machines
- Coordination of concrete works in line with road construction
Your qualifications will include:
- Master craftsman or experienced journeyman in the area of construction machine mechanics, agricultural implements mechanics, truck mechanics, where possible with experience in hydraulics and electrical (vehicles)
- Several years of professional and preferably overseas experience
- Cooperation skills and ability to work in a team
- A good command of French and English, both spoken and written
