Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located within the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA). The duty station is Bamako. The Gender Affairs Officer reports to the Chief of the Gender Advisory Unit.
Education
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law, international relations, social studies, gender studies or in a related area. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in the field of international relations, law, gender and/or peacekeeping issues at policy and operational levels is required. Strong experience in the promotion of gender equality in a post-conflict setting is required. Prior experience in a peacekeeping environment is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the UN. For this post fluency in English and French (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.
