Call for applications for the recruitment of a Coordinator for the Project “ECOWAS Renewable Energy Entrepreneurship Support Facility”
SCOPE
International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) have partnered to support solar photovoltaics market development in the ECOWAS region through the “Promoting a Sustainable Market for Photovoltaic (PV) Systems in the ECOWAS Region” (ProSPER) initiative.
The objective of ProSPER, in supporting the development of a sustainable market for on- and off-grid PV applications, is to strengthen and develop local capacities of policymakers, regulators and utilities, branch managers of financial institutions, trainers from educational or research institutions, and RE entrepreneurs to accelerate RE and particularly solar PV systems’ deployment.
In support of entrepreneurship and financing of renewable energy technologies, IRENA and ECREEE have held training workshops for ECOWAS based entrepreneurs and managers from financial institutions. Based on these workshops and extensive engagement with stakeholders in ECOWAS, it was evident that there is a need to provide technical support to entrepreneurs to ensure that innovative and sound ideas are supported to increase their bankability.
IRENA, therefore, proposes to set up a support and mentorship facility for entrepreneurs that will strengthen their innovative ideas and make them bankable as they scale up their RE businesses.
