Organizational Context
The Secretariat of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is organized into four Business groups in Geneva and five Business Groups in the field, namely the Zone Offices for Africa, Americas, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, and Middle East and North Africa (MENA). The Africa Zone Business Group is organized through regional representations covering the National Societies in Eastern Africa, Southern Africa, West Coast, Sahel and Central Africa as well as country representations in Ethiopia, Sudan, Republic of South Sudan, Chad, Niger, Somalia and Zimbabwe, Central Africa Republic, Liberia. The situation in Liberia is increasing with Ebola cases on the rise, and an increased case load of treatment patients. The IFRC has decided to scale up support in treatment, prevention and other areas of community awareness to curb the current outbreak. In this, it is all the more imperative to recruit an IFRC Warehouse Delegate for at least a further 06 months in Liberia.
Job Purpose
Reporting to the IFRC Liberia Logistics Delegate, the Warehouse Delegate will carry out Warehouse tasks in support of International Federation operations Liberia.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- To asses LNRCS warehousing and assist in set up of an alternative warehouse
- To assist LNRCS in reorganizing the existing NS warehousing system
- To implement, maintain and follow International Federation standard warehouse practices and record keeping in accordance with audit trail standards.
- To ensure the correct storage and rotation of stocks, as well as proper structural maintenance of warehouse(s) in view of maintaining all stocks in good condition.
- To maintain accurate stock records and controls at all times; provide weekly and monthly stock reports to the Logistics Delegate and advice on warehousing issues that affect the overall logistics operation.
- To organize local labour to effect the timely and efficient reception and dispatch of goods within the warehouse.
- To liaise and maintain timely communications with relevant other delegation units, departments and services to ensure the timely and efficient receipt and dispatch of goods from the warehouse in support of their activities.
- To support, train and develop the competencies of local employees, so they may be self-sustaining..
- To contribute to strengthening the capacity of the LNRCS warehouse officer
- To perform other duties as may be assigned by the direct supervisor.
Education
Formal education to secondary level technical qualification in logistics _ Required
Technical qualification in logistics _ Required
Experience
- Warehouse management, at least 3 years _ Required
- Working in general management or administration _ Preferred
- Experience of working for a humanitarian aid organisation in a developing country _ Required
- Experience of working within the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement. _ Required Knowledge, skills and languages
- Proficient in basic computer software programmes (Windows, spreadsheets, word-processing) _ Required
- Valid driving licence (manual gears) _ Preferred
- Advanced knowledge of spoken and written English _ Required
- Skills in training and developing staff _ Preferred
