Consultant (m/f) in Northern Bahr el Ghazal – South Sudan
This posting concerns a short-time assignment of 30 days working for Welthungerhilfe in a freelance capacity in order to create a survey about specific knowledge, attitude und practice of communities in the region of Northern Bahr el Ghazal, South Sudan.
Objectives of the survey:
  1. Assess the community’s knowledge, attitude, practice and beliefs regarding nutrition, food security, water, sanitation and hygiene.
  2. Establish existing gaps in nutrition, food security, water, sanitation and hygiene facilities and services with view of supporting improvement of facilities and services.
Methodology of the survey:
The survey will combine quantitative and qualitative methods. A structured questionnaire (with regard to nutrition, food security, water, sanitation, hygiene, disease) will be administered randomly at household level in the target area. A random representative sample will be taken from the target group.
Deliverables:
  • Brief inception report outlining the sampling methodology, the study tools (that will be approved by Welthungerhilfe before data collection starts) and an activity plan.
  • Meeting with various stakeholders at the district level.
  • Train data collectors for the survey.
  • Data entry, data analysis and compile a comprehensive survey report.
  • The consultant is expected to present the results of the survey to the program team:
  • Draft and final survey report presented to the Country Office and Field office
  • Complete data set provided
Time Frame:
  • The survey will be conducted in 15 working days starting on December 15, 2015
  • The contract will be for a period of 30 days (with the possibility of extension if the circumstances merit)
Your qualifications will include:
  • Degree in Public Health, Nutrition or Food Security
  • Extensive experience in health program preferably in nutrition and/or WASH research demonstrated by assignments conducted.
  • Experience in undertaking surveys (regarding Knowledge, Attitude, Practice of communities) strong background in statistics and data analysis
  • Knowledge of the socio-economic and health development issues in relation to South Sudan is desired.
  • A very good command of English, spoken and written
