Purpose of the Role:
A senior specialist and member of the Communications Team responsible for delivery of activities with a significant impact on the success of departmental objectives and acting as an important relationship interface with ActionAid donors and partners in addition to other functions within the organisation. Responsible for AAI’s digital strategy, leading on digital thinking and thought leadership, as well as overseeing the development of the international web platform, continuous improvement of international web content and our social media presence.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Develop and implement an international digital strategy, developing and coordinating on digital KPIs for use in ongoing monitoring audits
- Produce, consult on and implement an annual plan for www.actionaid.org in line with the international digital strategy including the implementation and monitoring of our core planned activities
- Continually monitor the digital content to ensure it is on brand and meets strategic objectives
- Provide support to ActionAid country programmes, as, to develop digital strategies and channels
- Advise across ActionAid on best practice for digital activity to meet strategic objectives
- Test and improve website and other international digital tools usability on an ongoing basis
- Keep abreast of emerging web and eComms technologies and share with relevant staff as appropriate
- Represent communications needs to other parts of ActionAid to enable programs to meet their objectives and maximize opportunities
- Keep abreast of social, communications and fundraising trends and network with appropriate external organizations to inform thinking
- Responsibility of managing delegated budgets
Desired Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will have:
- Relevant degree / Masters or equivalent experience
- Substantial experience working within a digital / communications team
- Experience of editing digital communications and websites for medium to large, preferably international, organisations
- Knowledge of e-Campaigning, e-Fundraising and new developments in digital technology
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to develop effective working relationships quickly with people from many different cultural backgrounds in a complex international environment
- Creative, imaginative and enthusiastic approach to projects, team working, problem solving
