The role
Chad is one of the poorest countries in the world ,Oxfam has been working in this country since 1956 - delivering relief and support in everything from livelihoods, basic social services and humanitarian emergency response, to governance and gender. Now, taking a more holistic and multi-sector approach to our programmes, your leadership will have a significant and lasting effect on some of the most vulnerable people in the world.
The role
In this role working alongside our head of Program and heading up our field program teams, you'll have a real part to play in developing the long-term vision and strategy for our programs in the Beg El Gazel. It's all about building up resilience of the most vulnerable communities and households in the North of Chad. So coordinating and delivering the full spectrum of Oxfam's multi-sector resilience program, you'll implement them in line with country objectives and Oxfam's One Program Approach of maximizing relief, resilience, longer term development and advocacy resources. This means combining your technical and management experience with your strong judgment skills to make decisions that will impact the entire performance of the field program. It also means playing an active role in high-level advocacy and lobbying, as well as managing key relationships with our partners and stakeholders up to government level. And as well as making sure that all program deliver impact on the ground, you'll monitor and evaluate program work to drive quality and incorporate learning where necessary.
What we're looking for?
A strong leader, you'll have a proven ability to manage large teams in a challenging context and achieve strategic objectives at the same time. With experience in both development programs and complex humanitarian situations, you'll successfully integrate the one-programme-approach. And having managed high-level donor contracts and relationships before, you'll know how to work with others to turn strategy into action. You will be flexible and adaptable in a high-profile environment and sensitive to cultural differences. You will also know a thing or two about promoting gender equity, and show an active commitment to promoting the interests of marginalized people in all aspects of program work. On a practical level, knowledge of the Sahelian context and fluency in French and English are essential.
The rewards
In addition to the competitive salary which will be paid net, with Oxfam meeting the tax liabilities, you will receive a range of attractive benefits including pension, medical, other type of insurance and those associated with internationally relocated staff.
