Project Description:
In October 2013, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) initiated a new phase of the F2F Program. Land O’Lakes International Development was awarded the F2F Program that covers the Middle East and Northern Africa, or MENA. (The program is hereafter referred to as F2F MENA). Building off a 90-year history as one of the United States’ largest, quality-driven food companies, the F2F MENA program will focus volunteer efforts on practical implementation and financing necessary to put in place sustainable food safety protocols and quality assurance systems from “field to fork” across a variety of crop and animal agricultural value chains. Egypt will be one of the core operating countries under the F2F MENA Program.
Job Description:
The Country Director of the F2F MENA program in Egypt will manage all in-country program operations and oversee successful implementation of the project and achievement of results and objectives for the Egypt Farmer to Farmer program. S/he will effectively manage all financial and administrative aspects of this USAID project including program as well as team management, regulatory compliance, logistics, reporting, procurement and monitoring and evaluation. She will establish and maintain key stakeholder relationships and will oversee multiple livestock value chains activities. She will serve as the main local representation of Land O’Lakes for the F2F MENA program to the Government of Egypt, USAID, and local partner and peer organizations.
S/he will oversee a small team (5 staff) located in the project office in 6 October City and reports directly to the US-based F2F MENA Program Director. The main responsibilities involve identifying and forming relationships with program partners and potential volunteer host organizations and businesses, working with staff to draft and articulate assignments to be filled by experienced US agriculture sector volunteers, and supporting volunteers to have successful assignments with their hosts.
Only candidates with an Egyptian citizenship will be consider for this position
Qualifications:
• Degree or advanced diploma in food safety/science, economics, agriculture, health, nutrition, business or related field;
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a business related field, and 2 years managing U.S. or other donor-funded development programs.
• Solid understanding of US government rules, regulations, and cost principles
• Demonstrated working relationships in the Lebanese agriculture and food sectors, including for-profit businesses; educational and training institutions; non-profit organizations and foundations; and development organizations in country.
• Experience managing teams and employee performance.
• Excellent communications skills in ability to write well in English and local languages
• Fluency in English and Arabic.
