Since its enforcement in Bangui, the program has been developed to responds to the acute humanitarian crisis, with a specific focus on the education sector, and more specifically on the rehabilitation of school structures.
The Country Manager will manage the field office in CAR with a staff of approximately 30 persons. The Representative will report to the West and Central Africa regional office in Liberia.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Represent the organization in the country
- Overall responsibility for managing the field office in CAR
- Be responsible for all contracted staff (both national and international), including staff security
- Ensure the successful planning and implementation of the humanitarian and reconstruction programs in the country, communication and advocacy
- Be responsible for the development of country plan in co-operation with HQ
- Networking and co-operation with donors, UN agencies, government, ACT Alliance members, other ecumenical and international NGOs and local partners
- Be responsible for the country wise fundraising and grant management opportunities and identify appropriate opportunities to increase and diversify funding sources and income
- Undertake other duties as designated.
Competence and Personal Requirements:
· Strong experience and skills in humanitarian aid operations in developing countries
· Experience in strategic planning and implementation in a senior management capacity
· Proven experience in management or leading positions, including financial and HR management in a multi-cultural and challenging working environment
· Good understanding of humanitarian aid approaches and standards
· Experience in staff security management in challenging environment
· Skills in advocacy
· Experience in working with local organisations and authorities as well as EU institutions, UN agencies and other international institutions
· Experience in fundraising for international institutional agencies and managing budgets with diverse donor base
· Experience in developing strategic and operational partnerships with donors, other INGOs and national level NGOs for project and advocacy interventions
· Good interpersonal and communication skills
· Ability to work under pressure and challenging circumstances
· Readiness to travel and
· Solid command of both spoken and written French and English as a working language
The position will be filled as soon as possible. The contract duration is for 1-2 years subject to negotiation. Monthly salary includes adverse working conditions allowance.
The duty station will be Bangui, Central African Republic, with frequent travel to project areas. The position is a non-family post and accommodation is co-housing.
