UNICEF seeks a dynamic leader as its Deputy Executive Director, Management. On behalf of and with the Executive Director, the incumbent will:
- Oversee, supervise, and coordinate the work and performance of the Divisions of Finance and Administration Management, Human Resources, Information Technology Solutions and Services and support the Executive Director vis-à-vis the Office of Internal Audit; the Evaluation Office; and the Ethics Office.
- Conceptualise in close interaction with the Executive Director, and lead and oversee reform initiatives in management and operations, including oversight of change management initiatives; and lead the improvement/simplification of existing operational structures, policies and procedures for high-performance results-based management.
- Maintain a strong liaison with other Deputy Executive Directors for consistency of policies and normative operational guidance to the organisation.
- Represent the Executive Director UNICEF at high-level events and fora.
Person Profile:
- Experience in the UN system and knowledge of UNICEF’s work an important asset. Experience in leading and managing operations and programmes in both development and complex emergency environments strongly preferred.
- A successful track record in exercising oversight of operational and programme activities and management of risks and financial/human resources, at a regional or global level.
- Results-oriented management approach with strong ability to improve systems, streamline and simplify processes.
- Excellent diplomatic and organizational development skills, combined with a proven ability to succeed in a complex political and multicultural environment.
- Dynamic leader with excellent interpersonal skills.
Minimum Requirements:
- Advanced university degree in international development, public administration, business administration or other relevant social sciences; or equivalent professional experience.
- At least fifteen years of progressively responsible professional experience in leadership and management, including but not limited to international organizations, governments, the private sector and NGOs.
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN language an asset.
