POSITION SUMMARY
Working location: FREETOWN, SIERRA LEONE (with 30% internal field travel) Contract duration: 6 months (with possibility of extension) Start date: immediate
SOS Children’s Village Sierra Leone is looking for an Emergency Response Programme Coordinator. He/she is responsible for the monitoring, evaluation, communication and coordination of the emergency programme co-funded by the German Minister of Foreign Affairs in Sierra Leone.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES.
Coordination and Monitoring & Evaluation:
• Support the National Director and in cooperation with the IOR WCAF Emergency team for the coordination of the Emergency Response Programme in Sierra Leone. • Support the development of programme concepts, proposal, budgets and other programme related documents. • Is responsible for submitting on time the emergency programme reports to the Emergency Response Team of the Regional Office. • Make sure the budgets are in line with the planned activities and the timeframe and correspond to the needs in the field. • Implements Project Management mechanisms and tools to ensure programme schedule and objectives are met. • Conduct internal field missions to ensure the optimal implementation of activities on the ground • Support Regional Office Emergency team in the design and follow-up of monitoring and evaluation tools and processes. • In charge of recruitment of local project staff in Sierra Leone in collaboration with National Office.
PROFILE & COMPETENCIES
• Minimum 6 months of field emergency experience. • Minimum of 3 years of Project Management experience including project planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting. • Has an understanding of technical aspects of emergency program activities • Demonstrable expertise and vision on the use of humanitarian standards. • Demonstrable experience and capability to manage and monitor projects autonomously. • Willingness and ability to do field travels in the country at short notice. • Experience in Child Protection and Health sector in emergency is an asset. • Good communication and diplomacy skills with a strong ability to persuade and influence client and stakeholder relationships. Will interface with 3rd party • Must have excellent knowledge (written and spoken) of English to meet donors’ requirements. • Ability to establish strong working relationships with local stakeholders. • Ability to virtually work in a multicultural environment and to handle change • Good knowledge on Microsoft Office package with high level in the use of Excel is essential; proficiency in the use of Mapinfo/Gis/Adobe Photoshop for basic mapping and statistic softwares (SPSS and others) is an asset.
