THE ORGANISATION
The Society of the Divine Saviour, generally known as the Salvatorians, is an international, religious congregation of Catholic priests and brothers, founded in 1881 by Father Francis Jordan. Inspired by the goodness of Christ, Salvatorians celebrate Christ’s humanity and strive for everyone’s salvation. The Society’s support services in Rome, made up of an international team of 15 employees, assist the Generalate in dealing with the dynamic growth and modifications the organisation is currently undergoing. SOFIA Global is the office for project assistance and international fundraising to support the Salvatorians in answering the call of the needy and fighting injustice and poverty (http://sofiaglobal.org).
Building on the rapid success of the Global office, SOFIA has become a network boasting of four offices: SOFIA Global’s focus is on project development and fundraising from grant-making foundations and philanthropists, SOFIA Swiss and Fondazione SOFIA specialise on the fundraising in their respective countries of origin Switzerland and Italy, and SOFIA Congo carries out the project coordination in the D.R. Congo. Moreover, the expansion of the network with new offices on all continents is currently under way.
It is safe to say that SOFIA has become the prime change agency of the congregation and the Global office in Rome is its engine. It has distinctly raised the quality of the services that the Salvatorians provide to their communities. SOFIA Global goes beyond the limits of devising applications and setting up partnerships with funding partners, it provides detailed assistance in all aspects of the project cycle management and gives informed guidance to the mission units on how to best devise a project strategy and go about their activities.
The Generalate is now seeking a highly motivated Director to guide SOFIA Global in its transformation towards even greater impact.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES OF THE POSITION
• Responsibility, strategy and development of the office
• Fundraising from grant-making foundations & philanthropists in Europe and beyond
• Impact enhancement of Salvatorian activities, including:
- Development of country frameworks
- Development of high impact programmes with the Salvatorian missions
• Support with the development of project proposals
• Supervision over the communication & marketing of SOFIA Global
• Responsibility, strategy and development of the office
• Fundraising from grant-making foundations & philanthropists in Europe and beyond

DESIRED PROFILE OF THE CANDIDATE
Academic Qualification
Master’s degree in a relevant field or compensating work experience

Excellent written and spoken English and preferably French or Spanish; good knowledge of Italian and/or German would be an additional asset
