Chemonics seeks technical specialists for an anticipated multiyear, USAID-funded trade and investment program aimed at increasing global competitiveness, intra-regional trade, and food security in Southern Africa. The project will spur inclusive economic growth by promoting an enabling environment for trade and investment, promoting regional integration and trade, expanding African capacity to effectively access and benefit from global markets, and encouraging U.S. companies to trade with and invest in Africa. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
We are seeking technical specialists in the following areas:
- Trade facilitation and investment
- Economic policy
- AGOA trade
- Agricultural trade
- Value chain development and market linkages
- Local capacity building and institutional development
- Monitoring, evaluation, and learning
- Gender analysis
Responsibilities include:
- Provide technical input to project implementation to achieve targets in poverty reduction and food security
- Ensure that project assistance is technically sound and appropriate for the local context
- Write and contribute toward reports and other deliverables
- Liaise with the regional governments and intergovernmental organizations, stakeholders, and counterparts in the public and private sectors
- Collaboratively implement a strategic, long-term programmatic vision
Qualifications:
- Master's degree or higher in business, economics, international trade, trade policy, investment or finance, international relations, or related technical area
- Minimum three to eight years of relevant development experience designing, implementing, and managing USAID or other donor-funded development programs; minimum three years in Southern Africa required
- Experience in key areas listed above with proven ability to achieve program targets
- Ability and desire to work collaboratively with governmental bodies in Southern Africa, international donors, local partners, and the private sector
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of appropriate technologies
- Experience in monitoring and evaluation, data collection and management, and knowledge sharing
- Demonstrated interest in building capacity of local partners
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluency in English required
