Humanity in Action is an international educational organization. We educate, connect and inspire a global network of students, young professionals and established leaders committed to promoting human rights, diversity and active citizenship—in their own communities and around the world. We are a non-profit, non-partisan organization with governing and advisory Boards in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland and the United States.
Job Description
For the past 16 years, the Humanity in Action Fellowship has brought together international groups of students and young professionals to study human and minority rights in Europe. Beginning with the Second World War and the Holocaust, the Fellowship explores the histories and contemporary issues of diversity and minority rights in Europe. Key areas of inquiry include national identity, immigration, xenophobia, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, racism, political extremism and discrimination of Roma – all seen through the specific lens of the five countries in which the Fellowship takes place.
The 2015 programs will begin in Washington, DC at the Council on Foreign Relations and continue for four weeks in Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, Paris and Warsaw.
Fellows are placed in one of these five cities and attend discussions with renowned scholars and activists, visit historical sites and engage in discussions on a range of political and social issues. Participation requires intellectual curiosity and stamina, as well as the ability to work effectively in international teams. Students from American universities will work and learn alongside Fellows from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Poland, Turkey and Ukraine.
After the program, Fellows join the global network of over 1,400 Humanity in Action Senior Fellows. As Senior Fellows, they are eligible for advanced professional opportunities, such as fellowships in the U.S. Congress and the European Parliament.
