Senior Country Managers

by Unknown  |  at  10:52 PM

Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, is an innovative public-private global health partnership whose mission is to save children’s lives and protect people’s health by increasing access to immunisation in poor countries.
Since 2000, Gavi’s work with countries and Alliance partners has prevented 6 million deaths through immunisation of an additional 440 million children. Gavi’s new strategy for 2016-2020 aims to reach a further 300 million children and prevent another 5-6 million deaths.
Gavi seeks talented and dynamic Senior Country Managers who will work at the forefront of its collaboration with countries and partners.  Through this cooperation, Senior Country Managers enable the introduction of new, effective vaccines in many places that previously couldn’t afford them. They work towards the global eradication of polio and the deployment of the cutting-edge cervical cancer-preventing vaccine. They may also contribute, once these become available, to the roll-out of an Ebola vaccine and the introduction of long-awaited vaccines against malaria and dengue fever.
Senior Country Managers focus on several countries within their assigned geographical region, and divide their time between Gavi’s Geneva headquarters and field visits. They ensure countries deploy Gavi’s vaccine and cash support effectively and transparently. They manage risks and help solve problems that hold back programme implementation.  They also monitor the performance of Gavi-funded programmes.
The successful candidates will have experience in international development, ideally in public health, as well as possess a relevant advanced university degree.  Significant experience working in or with developing countries on technical issues is essential.  Past management of projects, programmes, or grants is required, including in situations of considerable complexity and political sensitivity. Further information on the job requirements can be found at www.gavi.org/careers.
To apply, please email your cover letter and CV to recruiting@gavi.org by 31 January 2015, with “Senior Country Manager – The Economist” in the subject line. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
Gavi is committed to diversity within its workforce and encourages applications from all qualified candidates.
