Networks Specialist

IT Services
We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and talented Networks Specialist, to work within the Networks and Data Centres Group in IT Services at the University of York, with responsibility for the development, implementation, support and maintenance of Network services.
The overall aim of the information systems and services in the University of York is to create an information environment that supports, facilitates and enhances the teaching, research, business and community activities of a world class University.
The Information Strategy aims to provide:
  1. Core reliable systems and services for the whole University
  2. Systems for departments which allow for experimentation and development
  3. New and innovative approaches as needs arise
The University is seeking to establish a commodity IT infrastructure for all departments. The commodity infrastructure will provide a baseline which meets departmental requirements, yet enables department-specific services to be built on top. Development of the commodity infrastructure will aim to keep pace with departmental needs, and support new and innovative approaches where possible.
You will develop centrally managed network services to meet the increasingly complex needs of a world class university and assist departments in moving from departmentally managed services to the central service.
For an informal discussion, please contact John Mason, Head of Networks Group, 01904 323813,john.mason@york.ac.uk
This post is full-time, 37 hours per week.
The University of York is committed to promoting equality and diversity.
