TEL Systems Manager

The University of West London is a leading modern university specialising in the education and development of exceptional creative, business and service professionals.
The Institute for Teaching, Innovation and Learning (INSTIL) is a central services department which supports academic staff across the University of West London in all aspects of learning, teaching and assessment. INSTIL’s primary focus is to help ensure a high quality of teaching and the development of accomplished learners. Within INSTIL the TEL Team is responsible for promoting best practice in TEL, providing support and guidance, managing the use and further development of the University's learning technologies and enabling staff to deliver blended learning courses.
The TEL Systems Manager is responsible for the operational management and administration of all of the University’s TEL systems including the VLE (Blackboard). The post-holder will provide leadership for the further development of TEL systems to ensure they are meeting the University’s requirements. The role also involves working alongside the Academic Developers in TEL. This includes working directly with staff to provide expert advice and guidance on the use on TEL, running staff development activities and promoting best practice in the use of TEL.
The post requires both a strong technical background and an understanding of how technologies can be used effectively in teaching, learning and assessment. Strong communication skills are essential as the post-holder will work closely with stakeholders across the institution including IT Services, the Library and staff in the academic Schools as well as providing reports to senior management. The successful applicant will have strong analytical and problem solving skills.
