Project Manager Food Security (m/f), Tsévié, Togo

The German Red Cross (GRC) is part of a worldwide community assisting victims of conflicts and disasters and people affected by social or health related crises.
The Red Cross / Red Crescent Movement provides vulnerable people with assistance without discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions and adheres to the seven Fundamental Principles of the Movement: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality. The German Red Cross assists in disaster response, rehabilitation and capacity building projects internationally on appeals of their sister organisations within the Movement.
GRC is currently seeking a Project Manager Food Security.
The project is aiming to promote an integrated soil use and management in Maritime Region (Préfectures Ave and Zio). Therefore women in 40 villages in Ave and Zio are trained through the Farmer Field School approach, where improved seeds are tested and new agricultural techniques are demonstrated. Additionally, the strengthening of those women is accompanied by a support to equal the legal status of families (birth certificates of children e.g.) and mother clubs.
Duration: Starting February 2015 for1 year with possibility of extension
Location:Tsévié, Togo
Responsibilities and Tasks:
· Comprehensive Project implementation together with the National Society, the Togolese Red Cross (TRC)
· Coordination with one of the main partners, the ICAT (Institut de Conseil et d’appui Technique), who is responsible for the implementation of the agricultural component
· Training of TRC staff in general Project Management (PCM, finance issues, donor regulations, procurement procedures etc.) and Community based DRR (CBDRR) and Community Action Planning
· Coordination with all major actors in the region (GIZ, ICAT, Ministry etc.)
· Control of the budget, finance and administration
· Narrative and financial reporting, both for German RC and for the donor (BMZ)
Required Skills:
· Profound working experience in the field of Rural Development and Agriculture in the Tropics (preferably in West Africa or Africa )
· Experience in implementing and managing donor funded projects (BMZ experience will be an asset)
· Strong project management skills, particularly PCM and participatory methods
· Assertive, with high intercultural sensitivity
· Very good written and oral French & English, knowledge of German would be an strong asset
· Excellent computer skills
· Readiness to work in remote areas
· Ability to work independently and as a team member
· Ability and agreement to adhere to the Red Cross Red Crescent Fundamental Principles
· Readiness to go on assignment without partner
· Oral and written fluency in English, any additional language is of advantage
· Ability to work effectively in multi cultural environments
· Excellent physical and mental health with the ability to complete a thorough medical screening process
GRC offers you a compensation package according to the collective employment agreement of the GRC as well as an expatriation allowance during your mission. Depending on the post specific situation we either provide you with an accommodation or a personal allowance to cover your accommodation. In addition to a full insurance package (health insurance for residence abroad, private accident insurance, private liability insurance, luggage insurance) GRC is as well covering a home flight withing a 12-month period of assignment and medical check ups before and after your mission. Before your assignment you will benefit from a comprehensive training package and receive briefings prior as well as during and after your mission.
