Are you passionate about wanting to see people released from material and spiritual poverty? Do you want to be involved in an exciting, pioneering, overseas opportunity working on Tearfund’s “front line” making a direct impact in the lives of those we seek to serve?
We are seeking an experienced Emergency Roving Manager to provide in-country short-term senior management support to existing operational programmes and to undertake the field team leader role in Tearfund’s assessment of and response to new emergencies.
As a dynamic Emergency Roving Manager, the majority of your time will be undertaking the role of Area Coordinator or Deputy Country Director as necessary in operational programmes.
You will also be rapidly deployed to new disasters when required, leading the assessment of the humanitarian needs, assisting in developing Tearfund’s response either for Partners and/or operational response, and documenting associated learning.
You will also assist in developing Tearfund’s Emergency Response Register (ERR), including developing briefing and training materials. To be a champion for and holder of good practice on people and project management, including being a trainer at Tearfund’s disaster management training course and providing ad hoc training for operational or Partner staff during secondments.
You will have proven people, programme management and project cycle management skills and experience, including proposal & report writing and needs assessment experience as well as having good interpersonal skills and a strong awareness of development issues in the countries that Tearfund works in. Relevant overseas experience and good cross-cultural awareness are essential, combined with a genuine heart for the poor.
This post may involve potential contact with children and the recruitment process will include specific checks related to safeguarding issues.
