Regional Policy Advisor, West Africa

Marie Stopes International (MSI) is a marketing focused, results oriented social enterprise. With income / funding of c.£200m we operate large scale, effective and sustainable family planning and reproductive health programmes in some of the world’s poorest countries, in middle income countries and in Europe.
MSI has developed successful partnerships with donors, policy makers and multilateral organisations institutions, through an income generating business model and robust evidence and reporting.
About the role
Reporting to the Director of Results Based Advocacy, the Policy Advisor for West Africa will have responsibility to develop and maintain strategic relationships with key policymakers and donors who work on or in the West African region in order to reduce barriers and restrictions which inhibit the effective delivery of reproductive health services by MSI country programmes. For this reason the post-holder may be based either in London.
About you
As a result-orientated communicator, we see you bringing to the role a track record in engaging senior policy makers and donors, with knowledge of the development aid sector within Africa or Asia.
To be considered for the role, you will have:
  • Demonstrated track record in advocacy and policy engagement
  • Substantial work experience in one or more of; international health, private sector or external relations
  • Relevant post-graduate degree preferred
  • Fluent in French (essential) / Spanish (desirable)

Location: London

Salary: £ 38-44.5k p/a.
Duration: 12 month fixed term contract
