PROGRAMME MANAGER FOR HUMAN RIGHTS & SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

by Unknown  |  at  3:38 AM

WANT TO PROMOTE HUMAN RIGHTS IN THE GLOBAL DEVELOPMENT AGENDA?
The Danish Institute for Human Rights is seeking an experienced and dedicated professional to lead our work on integrating human rights in the post-2015 development agenda.

AN OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
As a National Human Rights Institution, we want to promote human rights as both a means and an end of development. As Programme Manager for our Human Rights and Sustainable Development Programme, you will shape strategies, partnerships and research that contribute to the integration of human rights principles into the post-2015 development agenda.
Working with a small team of experienced professionals, your mission will be to: influence global discussions on human rights and development; develop approaches for integrating human rights into national development programming, monitoring and accountability; and to position National Human Rights Institutions within the landscape of the post-2015 development agenda.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
To do this you must have a strong understanding of the post-2015 development agenda in terms of the underlying human rights issues, the key actors involved, and the opportunities for influence. You have a track record of successful international advocacy and collaboration. And ideally you have hands-on experience with development work. You are able to combine practice, policy, and research and you understand the mandate and role of a National Human Rights Institution.
You enjoy working in and managing teams with people from different academic, professional and geographic backgrounds. You have an advanced degree and potentially a Ph.D. in the social sciences. You have experience with programme management including programming, reporting, and finance administration. Excellent command of English is a requirement and additional languages are an asset.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
The position is full-time based in Copenhagen with significant international travel. Salary is set in accordance with the Danish Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS
Please submit your application no later than 12.00 CET on 5 January 2015 by using the form found on our website http://humanrights.dk/about-us/vacancies. The application should include cover letter, CV and a short writing sample in English.
DIHR appreciates diversity in the workplace. If qualified, we strongly encourage you to apply for the position.
QUESTIONS ABOUT THE POSITION
If you have questions about the position please contact Department Director Allan Lerberg Jørgensen via e-mail: alj@humanrights.dk or phone: +45 3269 8929.
