REACH Reporting and Communications Intern
IMPACT Initiatives is humanitarian think tank, based in Geneva, Switzerland. The organisation manages several initiatives, including the REACH Initiative, which was created in 2010 to facilitate the development of information tools and products that enhance the capacity of aid actors to make evidence-based decisions in emergency, recovery and development contexts. The IMPACT team comprises specialists in data collection, management and analysis, GIS and remote-sensing. For more information visit:www.reach-initiative.org.
We are currently looking for a Reporting and Communications Intern to support the REACH and IMPACT Initiatives team in Geneva.

Remuneration: 600CHF/month + Swiss medical insurance

Supervision
The Reporting and Communications Intern will report to the Research and Liaison Officer, under the direct supervision of IMPACT Executive Director.
Based on these terms of reference and initial briefings, the selected candidate will develop upon the start of the internship a work-plan which will be reviewed at regular intervals during the internship period and will serve as a basis for his/her evaluation upon completion of the internship.
Tasks
As part of his/her assignment the Reporting and Communication Intern will undertake the following tasks:
1. Reporting
1.1 Assist with the drafting and editing REACH and IMPACT field assessment outputs, including reports, factsheets, infographics etc.
1.2Contribute to the development of guidance, tools, and templates notably those geared towards improving the presentation of findings in written products
1.3 Assist with reviewing assessment plans, outputs and reports and compile feedback
1.4 Support the design and editing of IMPACT and REACH communications material for publication and distribution, using contents/contributions by relevant staff
1.5 Monitor the quality of reports and other information products, identify problems and propose solutions
2. Communications
2.1 Use social media (website and Twitter) to effectively promote the work of REACH and IMPACT and monitor the external visibility of REACH and IMPACT Initiatives through digital media
2.2 Regularly update, improve and manage the REACH and IMPACT Initiatives websites
2.3 Produce and share internal and external communications updates, including the newsletter
2.4 Contribute to the development and implementation of the 2015 REACH Communication Strategy
2.5 Identify key opportunities such as conferences, workshops, etc. to promote IMPACT and REACH, and maintain a calendar of global events
2.6 Facilitate internal group discussions related to Communications on REACH Resource Centre
2.7 Undertake the design/formatting of IMPACT and REACH products, and assist as needed with printing, ordering and distribution of IMPACT and REACH publications and visibility materials
2.8 Develop and maintain an online library of visual material related to communications and branding
Qualifications
Essential
- Studies related to humanities or social sciences, and/or other relevant fields
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
EXPERIENCE, ACHIEVEMENTS, skills and qualities

- Proven experience of copy-writing and editing articles and reports for a wide audience
- Attentive to detail and meticulous
- Proactive team player with the ability to think and work independently
- Excellent communicator, who shares ideas and discusses solutions
- Critical thinker, who identifies problems and proposes solutions
- Ability to work to a dynamic, multicultural environment and to meet deadlines
- Fast learner and resourceful individual, able to take on a challenge and try new approaches
Desirable
- Experience of preparing and editing technical reports and presentations
- Knowledge of humanitarian assessments and methodologies
- Experience of website development, management and editing (html and Wordpress an asset)
- Previous experience in the non-profit sector and understanding of the humanitarian coordination system
