Context:
Support for International Change (SIC) is a nongovernmental organization that seeks to limit the impact of HIV/AIDS in underserved communities in Tanzania and to train future leaders in global health and development. Our work in Tanzania focuses on community-based approaches to addressing HIV in rural and underserved areas.
We support our community-based program and achieve our leadership development goals through a program of local and international volunteers in Tanzania. Our focus is to adequately train and support volunteers and to pair them with local counterparts to ensure that their contributions to communities are effective and rewarding.
Our organization is young and dynamic, and we seek to be responsive to the needs of our communities. We are seeking an Executive Director who will demonstrate creativity, leadership, and commitment to our communities and our mission of leadership development. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative and the ability to work independently. The position is multifaceted and requires focus on deliverables and attention to detail.
Position Description:
The Executive Director will provide overall program leadership and lead organizational development, strategy, and income generation. The Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors.
Responsibilities include:
• Develop and implement organizational strategy with regards to effective programming.
• Lead donor identification, cultivation, proposal writing, and other income-generating approaches in order to sustain and expand our programming in Tanzania.
• Lead organizational development including overseeing recruitment, hiring, and support to staff and volunteers at all levels of the organization.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to Tanzanian leadership in Tanzania, to develop their capacities.
• Support US team and operations of the international volunteer program, including all efforts for recruitment.
• Oversee budgeting cycles and financial management throughout the organization.
• Report to the board at regular meetings.

Desired Qualifications:
• University degree
• 3+ years of progressive leadership experience with demonstrable results
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Experience with capacity development, strategic planning, and proposal development
• Knowledge of public health in developing countries is a plus
• Experience in East Africa is a plus
