The Transnational Threats and International Crime (TTIC) Division is looking to appoint an intern in its International Crime in Africa Programme (ICAP). The intern will plan and organise capacity-building workshops, maintain websites and assist with other communications responsibilities. The intern will report to the TTIC division head.
About the Transnational Threats and International Crime Division
TTIC works to enhance peace, justice and accountability in Africa by raising awareness and building capacity to respond to transnational threats (including terrorism and organised crime) and international crimes. ICAP is part of this division and seeks to strengthen rule-of-law responses to terrorism and international crimes through improved investigation, prosecution and adjudication of these crimes. ICAP undertakes research and provides technical assistance and training in collaboration with national, regional and international partners.
Overview of duties:
- Working with the ICAP team to update and maintain specialised websites and blogs, including drafting short summaries relating to new documents
- Providing communications support to the ICAP team, including drafting documents, sharing documents with relevant target groups and using selected social media platforms
- Providing administrative support in the planning and organisation of ICAP seminars, training events and related activities
Overview of requirements
- Substantive knowledge or writing record relating to terrorism, organised crime or related matters
- Excellent writing skills in English, and an ability to write for Internet-based platforms
- Basic technical knowledge relating to website maintenance
- Social media skills and know-how
- Ability to work independently, under pressure and to deadlines
- Qualifications and experience in journalism will be an advantage
- French language skills will be an advantage
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and the Internet
The duration of the internship is five months and may be renewed subject to programme requirements, funding and satisfactory performance. The intern will be paid a modest stipend.
