You will work directly with the Regional MENAT STAT CoE team to prepare and file the Statutory financial Statements and Corporate Tax Return with the local authorities following the rigorous project planning metrics with a high standard in controllership and compliance.
•Work with accounting firms to ensure efficient and effective audit processes including audit planning, fees, feedback via management letter process, proactive management of adverse audit opinion risks.
•Identify, document and drive compliance with local Statutory & Tax requirements
•Lead the implementation of regulatory change and represent GE’s views with regulatory authorities, accounting standard exposure drafts etc.
•Perform S2G (Local STAT to US GAAP) reconciliation for all GE business management entities under the local GE branches in STIR (Stat Tax Information Reporting tool) with the supervision of MENAT CoE regional teams
•Provide supplementary information and perform main controllership checks through the schedules identified in STIR
•Attend operational calls and meetings and summarize key achievement, next steps to all stakeholders
•Report out the S2G to the Stat Controllership, Business Tax Controllers and Business Controllers
•Compile, review and validate the BLP (Baseline pack) documents provided by different GE businesses operating under GE branches to support the Stat Financial Statements and Tax filing under local jurisdiction, escalate and open query in GRT (Global Repository Tool) if documents are not compliant with the local regulation or if any supporting documents are missing for local Stat/tax filing.
•Prepare the Stat F/S (Financial Statements) by management entity and perform consolidation (including intra-branch eliminations)
•Support the financial audits and coordinate efforts with GE businesses
•File the Statutory F/S (as required) and CIT (as required) return and complete the financial audit accurately and on time
•Obtain filing extension from the local authorities if needed and if applicable.
•Support the SOX audit on the Stat and Tax project - testing key controls and remediation of deficiencies found
•Active player with the post-filing activities
•College degree on finance or accounting
•7+ years of experience with S2G, Statutory/Tax filings preferably at Big4
•ACCA or CPA qualified
•Strong knowledge of US GAAP and local GAAP
•Ability to identify areas which are subject to S2G differences and apply them on a US GAAP TrialBalance and documents supporting the preparation of the Statutory Trial Balance under the local jurisdiction
•Comprehensive understanding on the local requirements about documentation (filing ready/audit ready)
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills - report out the key achievements, challenges and next steps on a weekly basis to regional leadership teams.
•Self starter with a commitment to meet deadlines - strong engagement to perform activities identified in the project plan and lead to completion on time and meet the Key Milestone deadlines of the project
•Learn quickly the internal business processes and apply the Stat/Tax knowledge during the preparation of the Stat F/S and CIT return
•Strong attention to details, experience with data analytics
•Identify risk areas which can impact the timely and accurate completion of the key milestones and use the appropriate communication channels provided by the project framework to escalate issues
•Escalate issues on a timely manner using the Stat and Tax Compliance tracker
•Strong PC skills, experience with ERP and reporting systems
•Fluent English & Arabic , oral and written
Certified Public Accountant or Masters of Business Administration (MBA) is preferred
