The Senior Product Specialist serves as the primary technical interface with the customer throughout the proposal, contract execution and commissioning processes for GE Transportation’s medium speed diesel generator sets. This role works closely with the sales & ITO teams to validate product offerings. He/she will also work with the customer to define the technical requirements of the projects and with the GE engineering teams to translate those requirements to design specifications | |
• Lead the technical relationship for stationary diesel genset applications with all parties involved in the project including the end user, genset packagers, EPC firms, equipment suppliers, etc., from engine, genset, or equipment order through commissioning • Provide technical support to customers and the sales team daily to facilitate orders; must be effective at issue resolution with customers • Technically articulate products to deliver presentations and training (on-site seminars, etc) with customers • Provide technical support to the Commercial Team during specification of propulsion system and generating system equipment and identify exceptions and clarifications to customer requirements • Work with customers to identify and collect the necessary site data to help validate proposal offerings, ensuring GE engines, generating sets, and propulsion systems meet customer requirements (CTQ's) and communicating those requirements back to the business through technical discovery documentation • Articulate products, features, performance and value story, and deliver customer presentations • Define functional requirements for New Product Development and look for opportunities for product improvement • Interface with design engineering to ensure successful project completion • Generate ideas for and assist in the execution of simplification and cost out initiatives | |
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with at least 3 in diesel power generation Eligibility Requirements: • Ability/willingness to travel internationally 20-40% of the time • Fluent spoken and written English | |
• Working knowledge in the application of diesel engines, generating sets, and power plants • Extensive knowledge of diesel generating set stationary power applications • Experience with medium speed reciprocating engine gensets • Demonstrated project management skills • Ability to work independently with all levels of organization • Proven analytical, planning, and organization skills • Ability to maintain utmost discretion and manage confidential and privileged information • Strong communication skills • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills • Previous commercial interaction • Experience working in Sub-Saharan Africa with emphasis on Angola, Nigeria and South Africa. |
