The UK Mission to the United Nations in Geneva represents the interests and policies of the UK at the UN and is recruiting a highly motivated and skilled person to do an internship with the Mission’s Humanitarian team.
Main Duties / Responsibilities
The internship will offer a unique opportunity to participate in the mission’s humanitarian work as an integral part of the UK delegation to the UN, under the guidance of senior staff.
The work of the Humanitarian Intern will be focused on supporting the work of the UK Department for International Development’s (DFID) Conflict and Humanitarian Affairs and Security Department in Geneva, in particular working with other Missions and UN Agencies to strengthen the performance of the UN and other actors in humanitarian crises across the globe. The intern will mainly monitor plenary meetings and events at the UN, draft reports from meetings, and participate in organising events. A supervisor will guide the intern and provide on-the-job training and evaluation. The internship will offer the intern an opportunity to get insight into the work of the Department for International Development and to learn about working on humanitarian issues in an international context. At the mission, we often work under time pressure, and the work is both challenging and rewarding.
