PEDIATRIC AND ADOLESCENT LONGITUDINAL CARE SPECIALIST

The University of Maryland Baltimore Global Health Initiatives through its operating arm Maryland Global Initiatives Corporation Kenya implements comprehensive HIV prevention, care and treatment programs to facilitate the Kenya Ministries of Medical Services and Public Health to control the spread of HIV and rapidly scale up HIV services, institute continuous quality improvement methods as well as the M & E infrastructure necessary to support these services.
OVERALL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The incumbent is responsible for providing technical support to PACT Supported Facilities in Nairobi County in the planning and implementation of strategies to support the provision of Pediatric and Adolescent HIV friendly services to improve their retention HIV services
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
To oversee the implementation of Paediatric and Adolescent specific clinics in supported facilities
Oversee the training and mentorship of health care providers in Pediatric and Adolescent HIV care using the national guidelines
To design a PACT specific package of support outlining strategies to improve the retention of HIV-infected children and adolescents in care
To plans and oversee the initiation and implementation of minimum adherence and psychosocial support package in PACT supported facilities
To oversee the implementation of a peer mentor program for HIV-infected adolescents in supported facilities.
To strengthen linkages with community based structures and organizations for enrolment of HIV-infected children and adolescents and their follow-up beyond the facilityTo liaise with the Paediatric and Adolescents HIV technical working group in coordinating implementation of these activities as per the National guidelines
To oversee the monitoring and evaluation of Paediatric and Adolescent HIV care and treatment services
Qualifications:
Minimum Bachelor/s degree in Nursing, Sociology or Counseling Psychology
More than 5 years’ progressive experience in implementing HIV programs for Children and Adolescents
· Should have training in National HIV guidelines for children and adolescents
· Should be able to work in a team
· Should have experience working with county facilities
· Should be able to work independently, under pressure and to adhere to set deadlines
· Should have demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
· Experience in use of data to inform decision-making, planning, and performance monitoring will be an added advantage
