Role overview
As an adviser you'll be employed in a Teacher Training Colleges (TTC). You'll ensure that the quality standard of the curriculum of teachers training gets improved. You'll advice on upgrading the way teachers prepare lessons for teaching in primary schools. You'll improve English language instruction and effective teaching methodologies. You'll organise material development sessions. You'll encourage the TTC to become a “centre of excellence” for literacy and numeracy in the wider community and nurture a culture of reading. |
Skills, qualifications and experience required
It's essential that you hold a bachelor degree in Education or a Mathematics or English with a postgraduate certificate in Education. You have at least 5 years teaching experience in a primary school, with specialization in literacy or numeracy. You can prove experience of sharing learning with others. You have knowledge of effective literacy (in particular reading) instructional methods, and experience in making your own teaching aids. You're able to conduct a needs analysis and monitor and evaluate. French language skills would be beneficial, but are not essential. |
For this job you'll need to travel by motorbike, either driving a motorbike or riding as a passenger. Roads can be rough, particularly during and after rain. For this reasons, a certain level of physical fitness and ability to cope with these conditions is necessary. You need to be willing to share accommodation with other volunteers. |
