Background Established in 1993, Muslim Hands is an international NGO working in over forty countries worldwide to help those affected by natural disasters, conflict and poverty.
The Role
We require a dynamic Programme Advisor to take up the role involving raising funds from institutions in accordance with Muslim Hands set priorities.
Your primary focus will be towards securing funds through major in-country institutions.
You will effectively use resources to network and ascertain areas of improvement amongst existing and new projects with the primary responsibility of identifying and facilitating institutional fundraising. Contributing to the overall development of the longer-term strategy and management decision-making for Muslim Hands, you will take leadership in the strategic direction of the sustainability of existing programmes and identifying interventions that institutions are focusing on in any given area with a view to designing projects and securing funds. Representation and coordination with external stakeholders will also be require from this role.
The Person
To be successful in this role you will have a degree in a relevant field or equivalent. You will have a minimum of 5 years experience working with NGOs or UN agencies in a similar role of partaking in institutional fundraising, project implementation and activities in project management. You will have proven co-ordination and planning skills, experience of working with partners at different levels, ability to work in a team with excellent communication skills and proven commitment to humanitarian principles, action and diplomacy, cultural, gender and political sensitivity will be essential. You will have a proven record of proposal writing and networking amongst the institutions.
Core Responsibilities:
- Carry out donor mapping to identify potential national and international donors, identify the strategic development programme/projects and submit the initial report with recommendations
- Develop plans to generate funds from institution donors and INGO’s
- Produce professionally written project proposals according to the need of targeted institutions and other donors.
- In coordination with the county office team and consultation with head office, ensure that a practical local institution fundraising plan and process is in place, and that MH team, its partner organisations and their allies are equipped to implement it in an appropriate way. Identify gaps and propose solutions.
- Provide technical support to programme staff and field coordinators regarding programme implementation, reporting, and proposal development.
- Network closely with other local agencies, the UN, government and INGO’s to develop high quality proposals.
- Develop and propose Mali office capacity building plan
- Facilitate the development of programme staff in order to ensure that the Mali office is capable of fully achieving its agreed targets
- Ensure compliance and quality improvement of MH’s programme
- At all time, ensure that gender and other vulnerabilities are mainstreamed into all activities.
- Responsible for Documentation of best practices and dissemination of key programme results
- Submit quarterly progress report, case studies and other fundraising material
- In-line with programme budgets, focus on sustainability of existing and new projects, identifying income revenues and propose exit strategies
- Actively support the relevant Country Leadership Team and participate in the meetings when requested and needed.
