Job Description:
In order to facilitate and to maximize the impact of the humanitarian operations financed by the European Union and of the EU civil protection activities coordinated by the European Commission in Cameroon, Central Africa Republic, Nigeria and Chad, the expert will be appointed to the post of humanitarian Technical Assistant (T/A) - Food Assistance expert by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection - ECHO.
The expert will be part of ECHO’s Regional Office based in Yaoundé, Cameroon. He/she will be responsible for ECHO’s operational activities in the area of food assistance and food security. The expert will be required to carry out regular missions to identify and assess humanitarian needs and to monitor programs in Cameroon, Central Africa Republic, Nigeria, Chad, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Sao Tomé and Principe. At the request of ECHO Brussels, the expert may also be called upon to carry out missions linked to his specific responsibilities to neighboring countries, to other regions or to Brussels if the need arises.
He/she should also be prepared to react to a current or evolving crisis in another country/region following a request by ECHO Brussels.
Qualification requirements:
Language: very good command of English and French.
The candidate must have at least 5 years of experience in delivering humanitarian assistance in the following domains:
- Food aid and distribution;
- Food security;
Previous experience in Africa is required. Experience on Sahel will be an asset.
