Salary:£14,523 rising to £15,560 following completion of 3 month probation
Tenure:Fixed term until 31 December 2015, but with strong possibility of long term extension subject to funding. An immediate start date is desirable.
International Service is a development charity working in South America, West Africa and the occupied Palestinian territory. We promote the human rights of vulnerable people, and support the development of local organisations and communities through capacity building and empowering local people to create sustainable change.
We are part of a consortium who deliver the DFID funded International Citizen Service (ICS). ICS brings together young people, who volunteer to make a difference in some of the poorest communities around the world. In 2014 we engaged with 330 UK and 69 “in-country” volunteers.
We have a vacancy for someone to join our ICS team in York, supporting volunteers on their ICS journey from application, assessment to pre-departure preparation together with the associated logistics and administration.
We are looking for someone who can build strong relationships with volunteers and other stakeholders, someone with excellent organisational and communication skills and the ability to manage multiple work streams and deadlines with minimum supervision. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a high level of integrity, have a positive attitude and a strong belief in the International Service vision and values.
