SECONAF Forum established in 2011, today comprises a diverse network of partners comprising of 148 public, private and NGOs from 38 countries. The SECONAF’s work cuts across multiple sectors including advocacy, systems strengthening, human resource development and market dynamics. The Coalition now seeks a Program Officer to coordinate and lead this effort as the Facilitator for SECONAF.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead SECONAF and be responsible for all its activities in francophone Africa including liaising with and supporting the forum’s Executive Committee ;
- Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders;
- Coordinate and grow the diverse group of members within the forum and serve as the facilitator for discussions and activities among/with them;
- Communicate regularly and effectively with members and other partners including the facilitation of discussions, public presentations, the publication in French of the Coalition’s monthly newsletter (SupplyInsider);
- Plan and facilitate SECONAF meetings, including sessions taking place within larger events;
- Coordinate training opportunities for SECONAF members;
- Write reports, documents, proposals and correspondence in English and French;
- Lead fund-raising efforts to: 1) sustain SECONAF operations and 2) support the development and implementation of regional initiatives by SECONAF partners;
- Collaborate with all Coalition staff, particularly its technical and M&E officers;
- Proactively monitor the regional contraceptive supplies environment and communicate information, both regionally and globally and seek out opportunities;
- Undertake outreach activities to engage new members and liaise actively with the wider RH supplies community and initiatives, including partners of the Ouagadougou Partnership;
- Ensure the implementation and timely completion of activities undertaken by SECONAF task forces and working groups;
- Administer/monitor small grants with support from the Secretariat;
- Member of Dakar Management Committee, contribute to the organization’s growth in the country and the region.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 8-10 years of increasingly responsible work experience – preferably in reproductive health;
- In-depth knowledge of the reproductive health field and a solid track record of having worked with key RH stakeholders across the region (technical agencies, donors and civil society);
- Flexibility to adapt the evolving demands of SECONAF members, balanced with the self-confidence to hold one’s ground on critical issues;
- Willingness to manage, often single-handedly, the day-to-day operations of member coordination;
- A track record of using electronic media in new and innovative ways for the purposes of social networking, communication across communities of practice, and knowledge management;
- Able to command the respect of key stakeholders;
- Native French speaker and excellent verbal and written English skills;
- Master's degree in public health or related field;
- Independently motivated and a solid team player, with strong analytical skills;
- Familiarity with supply chain management and total market approaches a plus.
