Expert (m/f) for Logistics in Sudan

Welthungerhilfe (www.welthungerhilfe.de) is one of the large and respected private organisations in the field of development cooperation and humanitarian aid in Germany. It carries out projects in 39 countries and campaigns for fairer cooperation with developing countries.

Expert (m/f) for Logistics
in Khartoum, Sudan
The post is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial term of 12 months. The field location is Khartoum, Sudan. Duty trips into the project region will be required, taking into account the security situation.
Objectives and responsibilities of the position
As the Logistics Expert, you are responsible for organising and implementing procurement and warehouse activities within the specified organisational, scheduling, contractual and financial guidelines.
Your most important duties are as follows:
  • ensure orderly material resources planning in coordination with project managers and project administrators
  • technical support and advisory for national project personnel with regard to logistics issues
  • establishment and supervision of warehouse management of relief items and other materials (incoming/outgoing, regular stock-taking, fresh supplies)
  • management and maintenance of technical equipment, inventory
  • fleet and transport management
  • planning and organisation of imported goods (import provisions, customs)
  • participate in the preparation of budgets and project plans and regular reports
Your qualifications will include:
  • a university or polytechnic degree in logistics or qualifications that are commensurate with this position
  • a university or polytechnic degree in development cooperation/humanitarian aid/focus on logistics, or qualifications that are commensurate with this position
  • experience in project management and the logistical implementation of emergency measures by international (aid) organisations
  • coordination and organisational skills - even under difficult local conditions
  • ability to work under considerable pressure
  • ability to communicate and work in a team
  • a very good knowledge of both spoken and written English; a knowledge of Arabic is desirable
