Location:
The objective is to have this role in the Global South, in a WWF office such as Mexico, Singapore, and Nairobi or where there is a major WWF Freshwater programme.Candidates coming from these regions are strongly encouraged to apply.
Main responsibilities:
- Develop policy positions, programmatic approaches and water management messages for the WWF network.
- Engage key sectors and institutions to ensure that WWF’s approach on water security is leading, respected and influential.
- Lead the WWF Water Security Expert Team consisting of colleagues from various WWF Network offices.
- Represent WWF at global conferences, fora and on corporate boards.
- Develop, manage and lead the implementation of strategic programme actions as agreed with the Freshwater Director.
What you need:
Required Qualifications, Skills and Competencies- At least master degree in a relevant discipline such as hydrology, water management, environmental law/policy, aquatic ecology, geography, civil engineering, development, environmental economics, or natural resource management;
- 10 years of relevant professional experience in conservation, environment and development, or environmental campaigning, with experience of working in one of these three regions - Africa, Asia, Latin America/Caribbean;
- Proven experience in effective communications with multi-stakeholders;
- Management experience with regard to projects, finance and/or staff;
- Network of water security and business contacts among governments, companies, aid agencies, civil society and other NGOs;
- Experience of donor relations, and successful fundraising an advantage.
- Strategic thinker with ability to lead and motivate colleagues and external parties towards WWF goals;
- Ability to mentor and develop multi-disciplinary, multicultural teams;
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English, with other languages a strong advantage;
- Adheres to WWF’s values, which are: Knowledgeable, Optimistic, Determined and Engaging.
