The U.S. Mission Addis Ababa is seeking an individual for the position of Senior Security Investigator in the Regional Security Office of the Embassy.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
The Senior Foreign Service National Investigator (S/FSNI) serves as the primary advisor to the Regional Security Office (RSO) on security and law enforcement matters. The incumbent manages the local security office and directly supervises three FSNIs and two Investigative Assistants. The S/FSNI maintains liaison with police and security officials and advises the RSO on threats and emerging trends. The S/FSNI serves as the local coordinator for the Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) and law enforcement training programs. The S/FSNI provides protection and security support for dignitaries requiring RSO support. The S/FSNI manages the local investigative program, supervises sensitive investigations, and provides investigative support to U.S. law enforcement agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

1. Required Education: University degree in Public Administration, Management, Business Administration, Police Science, International Relations, Law, Military Science, Security Management, or Political Science is required. One year of experience in the specified field will be equivalent to one year of education.
2. Required Experience: A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in law enforcement, investigative work, security management or a related area, preferably in the police or in a related field of security work is required. Out of the Ten years work experience, three years of experience should be in a supervisory capacity.
3. Language Requirement: Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading English and Amharic is required. (English language proficiency will be tested)
4. Knowledge: Working knowledge of the Foreign Affairs Manual and the Bureau of Diplomatic Security Instructions and Procedures pertaining to security and investigations. Good working knowledge of the standard principles and techniques of investigation. Good working knowledge of documentary sources of information and familiarity with pertinent Ethiopian laws and regulations. Good working knowledge of Ethiopian law enforcement and security services duties, responsibilities, and structure are required.
5. Skills and Abilities: Ability to maintain contacts with officials. Ability to exercise initiative and resourcefulness in obtaining information. Ability to draft reports and letters. Valid Grade II driver's license is required. Demonstrate proficiency in investigative techniques and report in a logical and objective manner. Demonstrate proficiency in personal protection, first aid, self-defense techniques and the safe operation of vehicles is required.

DEFINITIONS
1. U.S. Citizen Eligible Family Member: For purposes of receiving a preference in hiring for a qualified position, a USEFM is an individual who meets the following criteria:
1. U.S. citizen; and
2. The spouse or domestic partner (as defined in 3 FAM 1610) of the sponsoring employee, or a child of the sponsoring employee, who is an unmarried child 18 to 20 years old; and
